Our Mission Work

"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in."

Matthew 25:35

From the above passage it is clear to see Jesus was very involved with the poor and those in need. As followers of Jesus we believe that we should be engaged in actions that show God’s mercy and love so that others may know God. Below are varieties of opportunities and organizations to help all of us be active in our discipleship by reaching out like Jesus.

Second Hand Rose: is a thrift store sponsored by our church and located on Main Street in downtown Poughkeepsie. The store sells gently used items such as clothing, toys and household utensils. The money raised from these sales is used to aid people in need in Duchess County.

Harriet Tubman Academic Skills Center: offers free after-school and summer programs to children living in the Harriet Tubman Complex and the surrounding community.

Mid Hudson Love in the Name of Christ (Love INC): Through Love INC local churches mobilize and network together to make a lasting impact on individuals, families and children in need.

Hillcrest Homeless Shelter: We provide a monthly meal for the shelter on the fourth Saturday of each month.

In addition throughout the year there are opportunities to engage in ongoing and seasonal mission outreaches. There is no expectation to be involved in them all we simply want to provide an opportunity for all levels of involvement and interest.

Midnight Run: We travel into NYC for a night to provide food, clothing, and companionship to the homeless.

Food Collections: Food collected goes to the pantries at Dutchess Outreach, and the Veteran’s Administration.

Personal Care Collections: Items go to stock Love INC’s care pantry at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Fishkill.

Linens Collections: Sheets, towels and other items collected go to stock Love INC’s Bedding pantry at Immanuel Christian Reform Church in Wappingers Falls.

Crop Walk: This national fundraising walk raises money for local and worldwide hunger programs.

Thanksgiving Baskets: With other churches we provide Thanksgiving Baskets for the needy in the Poughkeepsie area.

Operation Christmas Child: Shoeboxes filled with appropriate items are sent around the world through this program.

Holiday Fellowship: A community-sponsored visitation program our church supports.

Angel Tree Program: We are part of a Christmas party at a homeless residence. Those who wish provide 2 gifts for each child.
