OPPORTUNITIES OF INTEREST AT PUMC
 
There are many opportunities for fun, fellowship, helping others and learning at PUMC. Listed below are just some of the activities that are of interest. Newcomers are welcome! Adopt-A-Highway – four times a year we pick up litter along the roadside of New Hackensack Road – Coordinators Eric and Hank Eichenhofer
 
Art Group – we get together on Tuesday afternoons at 1 pm to paint, and share ideas, amateurs and experts welcome – contact person-
 
Bereavement Group – We meet the first Sunday of the month after the second service to share in an atmosphere of prayer, trust and confidentiality - contact person Pat Kelly
 
Caregivers Group – we meet at 4 pm on the second Monday of the month- contact person Jenny Arden
 
Chancel Choir – sings at 10:45 am service, traditional choir; rehearsal is Thursday evenings at 7 pm - contact person Polly James
 
Companions in Christ – a new small group that will provide support for your search for a deeper dimension to your faith; day and time to be determined – contact Steve Allen at sallen@optonline.net.
 
Faith in Action - Social Advocacy Projects – contact Marty Morrison or Dale Borchert.
 
Friendship Circle – we meet the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 7 pm, - contact person Carla Vinson
 
Homeless Shelter – once a month on the 3rd Saturday, we prepare and serve meal for the Dutchess County Coalition for the homeless, there is a sign-up sheet to pick a date– contact Laurie Wilson
 
Hospitality - We provide the coffee for coffee hour after services, host  dinners for both members and the community – contact person Marcy Conners.
 
Joyful Ringers – Tuesday evenings at 6:30 -   contact person Pat McCullough
 
Men’s Bible Study – meets 9 am, Tuesday mornings -contact person, Jim Kyle and Hilton Lord
 
Men’s Breakfast – meets 8:30 am, Saturday mornings, contacts: Jim Kyle and Hilton Lord
 
Men’s Group – we are looking to schedule regular meetings to meet the needs of the members; for information contact Brian Lundin.
 
Healing Prayer – between services and by appointment for information contact person, Kaye Schrock, Vickey Carroll, Brian Lundin or any member of the Healing Prayer team.
 
Pastor’s Bible Study, Thursday mornings, contact Pastor Peggy or just stop in.
 
Prayers and Communion – Wednesday mornings at 7:30 am. Start your day with a brief prayer group. Just walk in.
 
Second Hand Rose - our thrift store on Main Street in Poughkeepsie. Volunteers are always needed; contact Kathy Timm or Joyce Norman. Items are sold at a nominal price and proceeds are used to  help the needy of Dutchess County.
 
Soaking Prayer – is the 3rd Monday of every month at 6:30 pm in the Sanctuary. Contact any member of the Healing Prayer team for information.  Childcare provided.
 
Sunday School- 9:45 am, for children 3 years old through 12th grade and Adult Studies; at 10:45 am for 3 years old through 5th grade - information contact Marcy Conners. Childcare provided.
 
Strength and Balance Exercise meets Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 11 am. Join the group for exercise and fellowship.
 
TGIF (Teens Gathering in Fellowship) – hang out night for youth on the first Friday of the month – John Marrine
 
Visitation Ministry – meets 7 pm, the first Monday of the month, Marty Morrison, Nancy Kappler Foster
 
Voices in Praise – contemporary choir at 8:30 am service, rehearsal Wednesday evenings, contact person, Anne Ciraulo
 
Wesley Circle- meets once a month at 1 pm, on the fourth Wednesday; we have varied speakers and programs - contact person Wanda Traver
 
Young Adult Group – meets Friday nights, 7 pm – contact Bridget Marrine
 
Youth Fellowship – meets 6:00 pm, Sunday nights - John Marrine

 

Love, INC Driver Needed – Love INC is looking for someone willing to take the personal care donations from our church to Our Savor Lutheran Church in Fishkill. Does not need to be weekly, just when donations accumulate in thebox in Fellowship Hall. For information contact Patricia Owen, Love Inc Liaison. 

If you would like to receive free e-mail copies (often in full color) of the scriptures done in calligraphy  by Jim Bennett  that appear on the bulletins each Sunday, just visit studioarts.net and click on the banner for Bible Calligraphy.

The Flower Chart for 2015 – is posted in the Narthex.  If you would like to donate the Sunday Altar Flowers “In Honor of” or “In Memory of” a friend or relative, write your name on the chart for the date you want, and complete a yellow form with information. Questions? Contact the church office

The Youth Group collects non-perishable food for Dutchess Outreach. Please bring in non-perishable food and place it in the collection boxes either in Fellowship Hall or the Narthex. Please no expired food!  Please check expiration dates! Laurel Hicks will see that it gets delivered

Soup and Soda Can Tabs are being collected for the Shrine Children’s Hospitals. There is a large container for them on the table in Fellowship Hall.
 
Second Hand Rose needs contributions of kitchenware including dishes, glassware, and pots and pans; linens including sheets, blankets, towels and tablecloths; knickknacks, small appliances, toys, games, men and children’s clothes, shoes, and jewelry.

Usher/Greeters needed for the 8:30 service: If you feel God is calling you to participate, this is a good way to become better acquainted with fellow members. Contact Bill Richardson or call the church office (452-2933) for more information.

Volunteers are still needed for Coffee Hour clean-up after the 10:45 service. There is a sign-up sheet on the Bulletin Board outside Fellowship Hall.

The Foundation for Religion and Mental Health offers psychotherapy and pastoral counseling services to members of the community. FRMH maintains an office at PUMC. For information regarding counseling services call 845-471-6619.

  • Tuesday Evenings - 7 pm - Men's Group is open to all Men for Bible Study and to come, bond, seek support, prayer and healing.
  • 1st Wednesday Evenings - 7 pm - Women of the Word Book Club, meets in the Lounge for the time being
  • 3rd Thursday Evening - 7 pm - W.O.W. Book Club, meets in the Lounge
  • Every Thursday at 11 AM - Pastor's Bible Study.
